RMIT Extend their win streak at Gladstone Park Reserve

After a week off RMIT returned to face Meadow Park SC at Gladstone Reserve looking to extend their win streak to 5 consecutive games.

Chances were few and far between in the opening minutes but RMIT were looking more likely to break the deadlock.

The stale mate was broken when Ahmed Zwawy switched the ball across field to Nick Barwell in space. Barwell played an inch perfect pass behind the Meadow Park back line which was met by Piers Brelsford who made no mistake at the back post.

RMIT went on to create a number of chances but were wasteful in front of goal. Some good hold up play by Brelsford on the counter allowed Jol Latcham to run through the back line and Brelsford’s well timed pass found his strike partner with only the keeper to beat. Latcham slotted the ball into the bottom left corner and it was 2-0 RMIT.

A defensive mix up allowed the Home team back into the game. The RMIT players switched off momentarily which allowed the meadow park striker all the time to round the keeper and finish into an empty net. The teams went into half time at 2-1.

The second half saw RMIT fashion a number of chances but could not capitalise until Brelsford’s driven pass to Michael Jones was buried it beyond the keeper to end the hopes of a Meadow Park comeback.

RMIT increased the gap in the 80th minute when Binyam Desta crossed beautifully to the far post and inform Brelsford lost his marker and headed home to make it 4-1.

RMIT now have 15 points from the first 5 matches and look to make it 6 wins from 6 when they visit Thornbury Athletic at IW Dole Reserve on the 14th of May.
